Another goodbye at Livebait

Sorry I’ve been away for a bit – the move down south was even more traumatic than anticipated and we spent far too much time on the M1.

Anyway, before I left, I spent a lovely evening in the company of two of my oldest Leeds friends. Still hungover from a heavy night the evening before, I wasn’t sure if fish was what I wanted, but I’d already booked Livebait.

I needn’t have worried. Our dishes – queen scallop risotto with pea and pancetta, pan-fried smoked haddock fillet and poached free-range egg served with parsley mash and a wholegrain mustard sauce and roast fillet of cod served on bubble and squeak, finished off with a veal reduction – were really tasty. The pictures don’t do them justice – especially since they’re so out of focus.

Dessert too was good and, despite it being a Saturday night, the staff were in no hurry to get us out the door. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you have a Tastecard.
